With new $355M investment, First Due is revolutionizing public safety with AI-powered tools

Emergency response crews are in desperate need of innovation. For decades, the essential work of fire and EMS personnel have been weighed down by outdated processes and disjointed technology. What should be seamless, core operational functions have too often turned into time-consuming burdens.

In a profession where every second counts, agencies continue to wrestle with fragmented systems that fail to work together. Leaders and responders are left juggling data across silos, spending valuable time on administration instead of decision-making and service. The result is a constant drag on efficiency that weakens focus where it matters most — protecting the community.

To solve these pain points, TechNexus Venture Collaborative portfolio company First Due has built an all-in-one software platform to modernize operations across fire, EMS, and law enforcement. Founded in 2016, the company has emerged as the fastest growing software solution for public safety departments — and it’s poised for even further growth after raising $355 million in fresh funding.

The new capital, a strategic minority growth investment from JMI Equity, TCV and Serent Capital, will be used to accelerate platform development and roll out new AI tools that help make departments even more efficient.

“First responders shouldn’t be bogged down with data entry or juggling different software systems,” said Andreas Huber, co-founder and CEO of First Due. “Our job is to give them one connected platform where everything they need is in one place — so they can focus on making good decisions at HQ and protecting their communities in the field. Partnering with JMI and TCV lets us take that mission further and make an even bigger impact.”

First Due now works with more than 3,000 agencies across the United States and Canada. Through a single connected platform, customers like the State of Michigan, San Bernardino Count Fire Production District, the City of Charlotte, and many more rely on First Due for core operational functions — including pre-incident planning, mobile response, scheduling, personnel management, asset and inventory management, fire prevention, training, community risk reduction, incident command, advanced analytics, and more.

First Due is redefining public safety technology by leading at the bleeding edge of AI — powering incident documentation, Scheduling Automation, QA/QI for EMS records, natural language report generation, and AI-driven onboarding and support in a single unified platform. This gives agencies better data, more efficient processes, and ultimately stronger tech tools to power their work.

“AI isn’t just another add-on — it’s a chance to give first responders and their leaders new, practical ways to work smarter and safer,” Huber said. “Whether it’s improving QA/QI, making scheduling easier, or simplifying analytics and implementation, we’re focused on building AI that helps agencies perform at their best in every part of their operations.”
