In partnership with EV startup Harbinger Motors, recreational vehicle giant THOR Industries announced the official release of the world’s first range extended electric Class A motorhome. The announcement marks a major milestone for THOR and signals the next evolution in the company’s electrification journey.
The vehicle, called the Embark, is manufactured by THOR’s Entegra Coach brand and is built on Harbinger’s electric medium-duty chassis. Boasting a 450-mile range with an integrated range extender, including 105 miles of range on its electric battery alone, THOR’s new offering ushers in a new era of electrification for the RV industry.
"Electrification will play a central role in the future of mobility, including RVing," THOR President and CEO Bob Martin said in a news release. "This first-of-its-kind electric Class A motorhome reinforces THOR's innovation leadership and offers unparalleled product differentiation for the Entegra Coach brand."
The announcement comes as THOR and Harbinger continue to build on their relationship in collaboration with TechNexus Venture Collaborative, which has served as THOR’s investment partner since 2021. In 2024, Harbinger raised a $73 million Series A round co-led by TechNexus and THOR, and TechNexus has been a close collaboration partner to both parties. THOR and Harbinger first announced the launch of a hybrid RV in 2024.
THOR, recognizing the need to embrace electrification as consumers increasingly turn to electric vehicles, was able to invest in Harbinger, share insights, and co-develop a range extender product—giving THOR its first electrified product. By partnering with Harbinger, which built an EV platform developed exclusively for the THOR family of companies, THOR was able to quickly bring a product to market that will power its future roadmap.
Founded in 2007, TechNexus partners with leading corporations to invest in early-stage startups, creating venture ecosystems for corporations designed to accelerate growth and create a lasting competitive advantage.
This recipe for building better relationships between corporations and early-stage ventures has proven fruitful. THOR and Harbinger’s collaboration recently earned the Fast Company 2025 World Changing Ideas Award for their groundbreaking innovation in RV electrification -- an award-winning feat that now comes to fruition as The Embark is set to hit the commercial market in 2026.
Embark uses Harbinger’s range extended electric chassis to offer premium comfort with more handling control and less noise. Embark is compatible with charging at over 13,500 DC Fast Charging locations across the US, according to data from the US Department of Energy. The significant mile range and accessible charging make the vehicle suitable for both short and long-term travel.
Embark will first be available on the rental market, where it will undergo consumer testing. Renters’ feedback will inform product improvements to ensure Embark meets consumers’ expectations of the Entegra Coach brand, Ken Walters, president and CEO of the Jayco Family of Companies, said in a news release.
